What are and how do we get Subluxations?
What is a subluxation?
A condition known as the Vertebral Subluxation Complex, VSC or just subluxation is one of the primary problems that doctors of chiropractic are interested in locating and reducing or eliminating. It can be a serious problem and the chiropractic profession is the expert in the field. You may have heard of or have conditions that are produced or affected by subluxations, which are often called by different names such as herniated disc, slipped disc, pinched nerve, arthritis, nerve pain, etc.
Subluxation is the term used by Doctors of Chiropractic to describe irritation. Subluxations of the vertebra of the spine are by far the most common type. Even the slightest misalignment can produce pressure and irritation upon nerves, effecting improper communication of vital nerve impulses to the organs, cells, and tissues of the body. The greater the misalignment, the greater the possibility of its affecting a nerve. The more severe the subluxation, the more the discomfort, pain, and often disabling illness that can result. The subluxation is the single most devastating condition affecting the human condition and potential. Left uncorrected this condition can interfere with the health and welfare of you and your family.
We will try to explain fully the profound effect subluxation can have on your health. A subluxation in the chiropractic sense is a fixation, misalignment, inflamed or dysfunctional joint in the spine or extremity, which disrupts the flow of nerve energy from the brain to the end muscle, joint or even end organ. Imagine a water hose that has a foot pressing down on it. That will restrict the flow of water coming out the other end. How do you relieve the condition? You take the foot off. The same principle applies to your nerves. If there is pressure on the nerve, the function of whatever is at the other end will be diminished or disrupted.
Anyone can get a subluxation at any age, at any time, whether infant, teenager, adult or senior citizen. In the majority of cases, no pain or symptoms are initially present. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your family's health as well. We encourage every member of your family to have a spinal checkup. Proper care of subluxations can allow everyone an increased opportunity to heal more effectively from health problems, help prevent recurrences or new problems, and to achieve the greatest possibility for a more abundant state of health and well-being.
Stress
For those who seem overwhelmed by stress, we have good news. Chiropractors take a common sense approach to stress. Simply stated, when your back is healthy and you have a good nutrition program combined with exercise, you can reduce emotional stress. When you are structurally healthy, you can have a more relaxed state of sleep—and who doesn't feel better after a good night's sleep?
Sports Active
For years, many professional athletes have found that chiropractic health care improves performance and speeds the recovery of injuries. Studies have demonstrated that with proper chiropractic health care, many sports active people can improve their overall performance by 16.7%! Think about that, you could hit the golf ball further, swim a little faster and maybe, just maybe, serve more Aces!
There are many more ways we get subluxations like poor diets, lack of physical exercise, sleeping wrong, poor postural habits, improper lifting, and two of the biggies, Car Accidents and Ladders, but there are so many more. Call today and have your spine examined for subluxations.
